Success Stories

Sharing the behind the scenes successes of some of our adoptions.

Sometimes a perfect match is just a perfect match!  Waylon found his perfect match and he knew on day one that he was at his forever home.

He has already made himself at home with us! He’s so cute and has such a personality and so smart. Him and my other dog are playing!

One year update 4/2025: I just wanted to share an update on how Stella has been doing with us. I can’t thank 4PAWS enough for allowing us the chance to grow with her. She is sweet with us, the kids and visitors, and loves to run with her brother dog in backyard.

Odie’s new human gave us this update: He’s doing fantastic! Truly a remarkable dog. Very intelligent and hands down the most loving and sweetest dog I’ve ever had.

Momo (formerly Moana) was adopted one year ago. Her before picture shows she was kinda sad but now, she’s a happy dog!! She plays fetch every morning and she loves having her bath! She also loves cuddling and watching TV with her Mom on the double chase-lounge. Her Mom says adopting her was the BEST thing she did for her retirement! Looks like Momo thinks so!

Three 12-week-old puppies entered the Benbrook Animal Shelter in September 2022 as strays. They were given the names Tom, Luna, and Jerry. They joined the festivities at the Benbrook Heritage Fest on 10/1/2022. They were a big hit with the patrons. A family saw Tom and Luna and decided to add them to their family. Two years later Michael, their dad, shares pictures of Wrangler (formerly Tom) and Luna. He says “We are so lucky to have the opportunity to have connected with these two pups. Very loving and lots of personality in each of them. Love them as new members to the family! ” NOTE: Their brother, Jerry, was also adopted the same day.

Buckley was surrendered to the Benbrook Animal Shelter in December 2021 along with six of his puppies. As 2021 drew to a close, Buckley had to be rushed to Vet to have emergency surgery to remove a piece of cloth that had lodged in his intestines. He healed well but volunteers were very concerned for him. In March 2022, a volunteer decided Buckley needed to join her family and Buckley has continued to thrive with his new family. They call him BuckBuck, Buckminster, and Buckles. He is very happy!

Athena was abandoned and came to 4PAWS. Surprise, surprise, at the time we didn’t know she was pregnant and we had Athena and a basket of puppies! Athena went on to a great home with one of our volunteers and Luna (Sometimes we forget the names we have used) is one of Athena’s puppies. This is an update from Luna’s new family.

Luna is doing great! She and our other dog get on wonderfully. She loves being outside when the weather is nice and is a funny mix of cuddly and independent. She was a great addition to our family!

4PAWS had Bruno, a two year old Boxer mix, for 4 1/2 months from September to January. He was always such a good boy! Loving, and loyal to the volunteers but he kept getting overlooked. Numerous dogs were getting adopted and there he stayed. By December we were getting worried about him. He seemed to be starting some kennel stress, which can happen when dogs have just lived in the shelter too long. He was working with a trainer and was showing signs of being a very quick learner and so smart. But weeks went by and he was not getting adopted. Then, his soon to be new Mom saw him on Facebook and he reminded her so much of a dog who had been in her family but had passed. But with the holidays and previous commitments, she was not able to visit him until January. He was still available when she was ready and it was love at first sight. The next day he met his future siblings, both two legged and four legged. And he finally found his perfect forever home, with loving parents, one small human and two canine siblings. A match made in heaven!

Persephone is the definition of our “favorite child.” She has the most unique personality, and fits into our crazy pack like the puzzle piece you didn’t know you were missing until it was put into place. Independent, spoiled, and determined to be loved by everyone including our elusive cat, she’s the belle of the ball, a laugh when you’re having a tough day, and she has just enough cuddles to leave you wanting more. This gal is smart, sassy, and classy. We absolutely adore her.
